Police are urgently seeking information regarding a serious hit-and-run incident that occurred on May 2, near Mount Garnet. The Queensland Police released footage of a white utility vehicle, believed to be linked to the crash that severely injured two local men on the Kennedy Highway. In the early hours of the incident, around 2:30 AM, two pedestrians were struck by the vehicle as they walked near Spring Creek Bridge, close to the Mount Garnet Rodeo grounds. The vehicle involved did not stop to offer aid. An 18-year-old from Mount Garnet sustained critical injuries and was subsequently airlifted to Cairns Base Hospital, while a 25-year-old suffered less severe injuries and was transported to Atherton Hospital. Authorities are calling on the owner of the vehicle, specifically noted for its metal cage on the back, to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
