On April 30, 2026, Missouri students will have the unique opportunity to interact directly with astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS). NASA astronauts Jessica Meir and Jack Hathaway will answer pre-recorded questions from students, focusing on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This educational event, scheduled to begin at 10:50 a.m. EDT, will be streamed live on NASA’s ‘Learn With NASA’ YouTube channel.

The session is organized by the University of Missouri Pre-Employment Transition Services in Columbia, Missouri. It targets K-12 students and community members, aiming to bolster interest and understanding in space exploration and encourage careers in STEM fields. This initiative reflects NASA’s ongoing commitment to educational outreach and its role in inspiring the next generation of scientists and explorers.

For over a quarter of a century, astronauts have lived and worked on the ISS, conducting research that benefits Earth and aids NASA’s missions beyond, including the ambitious Artemis program aimed at lunar exploration as a precursor to Mars. The interaction not only highlights ongoing research and technological advancements aboard the ISS but also connects students directly with the experiences of astronauts in space.
