Over 2,100 Ukrainian children, previously abducted by Russian forces, have been successfully repatriated, according to a recent report received by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This significant development is part of the ongoing “Bring Kids Back UA” initiative, aimed at reversing the forcible abductions that have occurred since the conflict’s inception.

During a meeting with Oleksandr Bevz and Maksym Maksymov, leaders of the Bring Kids Back UA team, it was disclosed that 150 of these children were returned just since the beginning of this year. The Ukrainian Ministry of Justice continues to rigorously verify each abduction case through a dedicated special commission, ensuring a systematic approach to addressing this grave issue.

Further steps to bolster these efforts were discussed, highlighting the implementation of the United Nations General Assembly’s December 2025 resolution titled “Return of Ukrainian Children.” This resolution supports the initiative and categorizes the act of deporting and displacing Ukrainian children as a crime against humanity. Looking ahead, a ministerial-level meeting of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children is scheduled for May 11 in Brussels, aiming to garner substantial support and decisive actions from international partners.
