Three Charged Over Wellington Point Shooting

Queensland police have charged three men over an alleged aggravated break-in at Wellington Point in December during which a 25-year-old resident was shot in the foot. Police said the incident was targeted and there was no ongoing threat to the public.

The group allegedly entered a Mander Court home about 1 a.m. on Dec. 8 and confronted the resident before one offender discharged a firearm. Several items were reportedly stolen, along with a blue Dodge Ram utility and a BMW X5. Both vehicles were later found abandoned, with the Dodge Ram damaged in Thorneside and the BMW recovered undamaged in Loganlea.

A 30-year-old Marsden man was arrested on Dec. 12 and charged with grievous bodily harm, robbery armed in company, entering a dwelling and committing an indictable offence, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He remains in custody and is due to appear at Cleveland Magistrates Court on Jan. 20.

Two further men, aged 28 and 29, were arrested at a Waterford West shopping centre on Jan. 7. Both face similar charges, while the 28-year-old also faces four drug-possession charges and the 29-year-old faces an additional drug-possession charge. Police said a subsequent search in Yarrabilba located drug-related items, firearm parts and two .22-calibre rounds. Investigations are continuing.
