In a significant diplomatic engagement, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Ihor Zhovkva, met with Austria’s Government Coordinator for Ukraine Reconstruction, Wolfgang Anzengruber, to discuss the future of Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts. The meeting underscored a mutual commitment to rebuilding Ukraine in accordance with European Union standards and global best practices, as the nation looks towards potential EU membership. During the meeting, Zhovkva expressed gratitude for Austria’s considerable financial and humanitarian assistance, which currently stands at approximately €2.9 billion. The Deputy Head emphasized the importance of continuous and expanded support from Austria, particularly in priority areas such as humanitarian demining, and the reconstruction of critical infrastructure, housing, shelters, and medical facilities. Austria’s support remains steadfast, with Anzengruber reaffirming the country’s commitment to Ukraine’s post-war recovery. The discussion highlighted the active involvement of Austrian government and businesses in the reconstruction process, aiming for enhanced economic cooperation between the two nations. Zhovkva emphasized the role Austria could play, especially in sectors where it holds a competitive edge, as Ukraine rebuilds and aligns itself with future EU membership standards.
