A 59-year-old man has died during a police operation at Burnett Heads, prompting investigations by the Queensland Police Service’s Ethical Standards Command and the State Coroner. Police said officers attended a vessel on the Burnett River near Marina Drive at about 2:35 p.m. on Sept. 9 for a welfare check. The man stopped engaging with officers at about 4:15 p.m., after which officers boarded the vessel and found him unresponsive. Officers provided first aid, but the man was declared dead at the scene.
