A 39-year-old Mackay man has been charged with multiple driving offences following a reported hit-and-run crash in Andergrove on September 3, Queensland Police said.

Police were called to the intersection of Fernleigh and Banksia avenues at about 3:45 p.m. after a blue-and-white Yamaha motorcycle crashed into a fence. Officers allege the rider left the scene, walking with the motorcycle toward Maple Drive. He was located and arrested a short time later.

The man was charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, failing to comply with the duties of a driver involved in a crash, failing to provide driver particulars to the owner of damaged property, driving while unlicensed, and offences relating to an unregistered and uninsured vehicle. He was also charged with possessing utensils.

He is scheduled to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on September 4. Police said investigations remain ongoing and urged anyone with information or relevant footage to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers.
