Police Operation Extended After 18,000 Charges

Queensland Police will extend Operation Yankee Forge for another six months after the statewide initiative resulted in more than 18,000 charges against over 6,400 offenders since February.

The operation targets high-harm offences including unlawful use of motor vehicles, robbery and unlawful entry. Local police, specialist units and partner agencies are coordinating enforcement and crime-prevention activities across Queensland.

Acting Deputy Commissioner Disaster and Emergency Management Rhys Wildman said the operation had made significant progress but further work was needed to reduce offences affecting families, businesses and community safety.

Police said residents can expect continued high-visibility patrols in streets, suburbs and public spaces. The extended operation will use intelligence-led policing and local knowledge to identify and disrupt serious offenders while supporting investigations and prevention efforts.
