Ukraine hosted an international conference on societal resilience in Kyiv, bringing together First Lady Olena Zelenska, Lithuania’s First Lady Diana Nausėdienė and Slovenia’s First Gentleman Aleš Musar. The event opened the program of the VI Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, “World 2026: Finding Stability in Times of Uncertainty.” More than 200 experts, researchers and representatives of governments, international organizations, businesses, civil society and the security sector attended the conference at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Discussions focused on crisis preparedness, mental health, social trust, community self-organization, institutional adaptability and societal security. During a session on Ukrainian resilience, participants examined lessons from the war across healthcare, demographics, philosophy, community life and frontline experience. Ukrainian researchers also presented the concept of “Sofiynist,” described as an approach that combines reason and empathy, and signed a manifesto outlining the philosophy. The conference concluded with the launch of an International Expert Council on Resilience. The council will study resilience mechanisms, organize existing knowledge, develop interdisciplinary approaches and create practical recommendations for communities, institutions and governments. The event was organized under Ukraine’s national mental health program with support from the World Health Organization.
