Ukraine, Finland Expand Defense Cooperation

Ukraine and Finland have signed three cooperation memorandums covering drones, maritime unmanned systems and ground robotic vehicles, as the two countries seek to expand defense-industrial collaboration.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Finnish President Alexander Stubb attended a defense-industry roundtable in Ukraine, organized with the Ukrainian Council of Defense Industry. Representatives of Ukrainian and Finnish companies signed the documents in the presence of both leaders.

The agreements provide for the development and production in Finland of drones for Ukraine and European markets, expanded capabilities in maritime unmanned systems, and the establishment of a facility for producing unmanned ground robotic systems. Seven Finnish companies—Boomeranger, Insta, Patria, Nokia, NestAI, Sensofusion and ICEYE—participated in the meeting.

Zelenskyy said the cooperation would combine Ukraine’s battlefield experience with Finnish technology. Stubb said the partnership would strengthen both countries and described it as a continuation of existing security cooperation, also noting potential collaboration in cyber and space capabilities.
