Drivers Face Drink, Speed Charges

Queensland police have charged two drivers with alleged high-range drink-driving offences and penalized another for speeding more than 40 km/h above the limit in the Capricornia District this week.

Police allege a 20-year-old Bouldercombe man recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.224 per cent after officers stopped a white Holden Colorado on Lower Dawson Road, Rockhampton, about 11:50 p.m. on July 26. He was charged with driving under the influence and is due to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on August 10.

A 44-year-old Hidden Valley woman was also charged with driving under the influence after allegedly recording a BAC of 0.284 per cent during testing at Yeppoon Police Station. Officers had stopped her black station wagon on Jordy Drive, Hidden Valley, about 4:15 a.m. on July 27. She is due to appear in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on August 13.

Police also issued a traffic infringement notice to a 61-year-old Sapphire Central man allegedly detected driving at 142 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on the Capricorn Highway near Emerald on July 22. He was fined $1,986, received eight demerit points and had his licence suspended for six months. The enforcement formed part of Operation Interpose, a Queensland Police initiative targeting dangerous driving behaviours.
