The Queensland Police Service is investigating a serious single-vehicle crash in Speewah that left a 34-year-old Mareeba man with serious but non-life-threatening injuries on July 28. Police said the Toyota Landcruiser was travelling east on the Kennedy Highway when it collided with a tree shortly after 1 a.m. The driver, who was the vehicle’s sole occupant, was taken to Cairns Hospital. The Forensic Crash Unit is conducting the investigation. Police are asking anyone with relevant information or dashcam footage to come forward, quoting reference number QP2601455763. The QPS also reminded motorists that speeding, driving under the influence, distraction, fatigue and failing to wear a seatbelt can cause serious harm.
