Teenagers Charged After Oxley Phone Theft

Queensland Police have charged two teenagers following the alleged theft of a mobile phone and the recovery of a reportedly stolen vehicle in Brisbane’s west on July 27.

Police allege a group of teenagers approached a 15-year-old boy near Jutland Street, Oxley, at about 4 p.m., threatened him and demanded his phone. The boy handed it over and was not physically injured. The group then allegedly fled in a grey Mazda CX-30 reported stolen from an Agincourt Street address in Grange on July 4.

Officers later spotted the vehicle on Yallambie Road, Jindalee, and tracked it southbound along the Centenary Motorway. Police deployed a tyre-deflation device near Redbank, after which the vehicle was abandoned near Collingwood Drive. Three people were taken into custody nearby.

A 16-year-old Ripley boy has been charged with stealing, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and demanding property with menace with intent to steal. He was refused police bail and is due to appear in Ipswich Children’s Court. A 19-year-old Goodna man faces the same charges and is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 11. A 13-year-old Goodna boy was released and is assisting police with their inquiries.
