Police in Slacks Creek have charged a 17-year-old boy following the alleged armed robbery of a rideshare driver, which occurred on July 14, 2026. The incident unfolded on the Pacific Highway after the driver had transported the passenger to a business location.

According to the Queensland Police Service, the teenager allegedly produced a knife and threatened the driver while demanding the vehicle’s keys. Although the driver managed to distance himself from the vehicle, the teenager attempted to start the car but failed and subsequently fled the scene on foot. Fortunately, the driver did not sustain any physical injuries during the ordeal.

Authorities were able to locate and apprehend the suspect at a nearby address in Slacks Creek. He has been charged with one count of armed robbery and was granted bail. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Beenleigh Children’s Court on July 27.
