Police in Mackay have charged four individuals following two separate shooting incidents on the Northern Beaches, escalating concerns about public safety and crime in the area. In the early hours of July 8th, authorities were alerted to gunfire outside a licensed venue on Andergrove Road in Andergrove. According to police reports, four suspects allegedly discharged multiple rounds at an unoccupied vehicle. The following day, law enforcement executed a search warrant at a residence in Bucasia, uncovering seven stolen firearms, including pistols and rifles. Among those arrested were a 25-year-old man from South Mackay and a 26-year-old from Beaconsfield, each facing multiple charges related to drug possession, weapon possession, and related offenses. They appeared before Mackay Magistrates Court on July 10th. Additionally, a 19-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man, both from North Mackay, were charged with similar offenses and are scheduled for a court appearance on July 27th. A separate but potentially related incident was reported approximately 30 minutes after the initial shooting, involving gunfire at a residential property on Denman Avenue in Shoal Point. Although the shooter remains unidentified and no injuries were reported, the incident has prompted an ongoing investigation to determine any connection to the earlier events. The Queensland Police are urging anyone with information regarding these incidents to come forward, emphasizing that there is no perceived ongoing threat to the community.
