NASA has announced that Astronaut Anil Menon, flight engineer for the upcoming International Space Station Expeditions 74/75, will be available for prelaunch virtual interviews from the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City, Russia. These interviews are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. EDT on June 22 and will be streamed live on NASA’s YouTube channel.

Anil Menon, selected as part of NASA’s 2021 astronaut class, is gearing up for his first spaceflight aboard the Roscosmos Soyuz MS-29 spacecraft, which is set to launch on July 14 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Joining him on this mission will be Roscosmos cosmonauts Pyotr Dubrov and Anna Kikina. The trio is expected to spend about eight months on the space station, engaging in various scientific studies and technology demonstrations aimed at preparing for future manned missions to the Moon and Mars.

During his stay at the orbiting laboratory, Menon will participate in critical experiments to understand better the impacts of microgravity on the human body, including studies on astronaut vein structure, blood flow, and blood composition. Additionally, he will be involved in testing the production of intravenous fluids using the space station’s potable water system. These investigations are part of over two decades of continuous human presence aboard the ISS, which has been pivotal in advancing scientific knowledge and research breakthroughs that are not possible on Earth.

Media interested in the virtual interviews with Astronaut Anil Menon must submit their requests by emailing [email protected] no later than 5 p.m. EDT on June 17. For more information about the ISS and its crew, visit NASA’s official website.
