The Queensland Police Service (QPS) has announced the publication of a missing child sex offender on the Child Protection Disclosure website, as per Daniel’s Law. The offender, who has failed to meet reporting requirements and whose current location is unknown, is now listed to enhance community safety. In an effort to bolster child protection, the QPS made this decision following a thorough risk assessment, adhering to legislative guidelines. The Queensland Community Protection website now features the offender’s details, including photo, name, and year of birth, aiming to help the public make informed decisions. Acting Detective Superintendent Stephen Blanchfield emphasized the importance of the public’s role in locating the offender while urging them not to approach the individual directly. Instead, he advised that any sightings or relevant information should be reported immediately to Policelink or through an emergency call to Triple Zero (000), citing the specific ‘QP’ number provided online. Blanchfield further reminded that the misuse of information from the website, such as using it to harass or intimidate, could lead to criminal charges. He reiterated the importance of using the accessed details responsibly and solely for the purpose of safeguarding children.
