Detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch charged a 32-year-old Beenleigh man with multiple drug-related offenses after a vehicle interception early on May 3 at Hope Island. The interception, which was initially for a routine license check, led to the discovery of drugs and cash. Around 5 a.m., police officers stopped a white Nissan Navara on Hope Island Road. The driver, found to be disqualified from driving, was detained for a drug search during which he attempted to flee, resulting in a brief chase on foot before being arrested. The man faces several charges, including possession of dangerous drugs, possession of property suspected to be the proceeds of a drug offense, and obstructing a police officer. He is scheduled to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court on June 6.
