Zelenskyy, Sandu Strengthen Ties

During a joint press conference on April 26, 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, alongside Moldovan President Maia Sandu, addressed critical issues pertaining to security, cross-border cooperation, and their shared journey towards European Union membership. The conference coincided with the somber anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster, underlining the historical and ongoing challenges faced by the region.

President Zelenskyy highlighted the symbolic significance of President Sandu’s visit on the anniversary of Chornobyl, a catastrophe that demonstrated immense solidarity and resilience among the people of Ukraine. He drew parallels between past events and current adversities, emphasizing the enhanced threats posed by Russian activities at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and broader regional instability.
