A 47-year-old Bracken Ridge man has been charged after a Queensland Ambulance Service vehicle was allegedly struck and overturned on the Warrego Highway near Bowenville on November 2.

Queensland Police said the ambulance was transporting a male patient to hospital at about 9:30 p.m. when it was allegedly hit by a grey Mitsubishi Triton travelling in the opposite direction. Police allege the Mitsubishi crossed onto the wrong side of the road before colliding with the ambulance. The driver allegedly fled on foot into a nearby field.

Three people, including a 33-year-old Miles woman, a 54-year-old Red Hill woman and a 49-year-old male patient from Chinchilla, sustained minor injuries, according to police. Officers from the South West Tactical Crime Squad located the man at a Dalby address on November 3 and took him into custody.

The man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving without a licence and failing to remain at an incident and render assistance. He was due to appear in Dalby Magistrates Court on November 3.
