Police in Chances Plain, near Chinchilla, have charged two men following their alleged involvement in a series of firearm, vehicle, and drug offenses, marking a significant breakthrough in local crime fighting efforts.

The incident occurred on April 22, when police were alerted to a 2009 Toyota Hilux and trailer, reported stolen, parked on Horswoods Road. Upon arrival, officers from Chinchilla, Dalby, and the South West Tactical Crime Squad found two men asleep inside the vehicle. Both men were arrested and taken into custody.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a firearm, ammunition, and a quantity of methylamphetamine. Authorities confirmed that the Toyota Hilux had been stolen from a property on Jandowae Road in Dalby on April 17, and the trailer was taken from Warra Marnhill Road at Jimbour West on April 20.

The suspects, a 30-year-old man from Kingston and a 19-year-old from Dalby, face multiple charges, including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of a category A firearm, explosives, and dangerous drugs among others. They have been remanded in custody with scheduled court appearances in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court.
