A police-involved shooting in Woombye, Queensland resulted in multiple charges against a 32-year-old man, following a dramatic series of events that began with a vehicle crash and ended with an armed confrontation. Officers responded to a crash involving a white MG hatchback on the Sunshine Motorway in Sippy Downs on March 4, which subsequently fled the scene. The suspect, a North Arm man, later switched vehicles, abandoning the MG for a white Toyota Hilux, which police located shortly after on Woombye Palmwoods Road. It is alleged that the man, armed with a gun, exited the Hilux and approached police officers, leading to him being shot. He was provided immediate medical attention by the police and was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition. The man faces numerous charges including serious assault of police while armed, unlawful possession of a weapon, and dangerous operation of a vehicle, among others. He is scheduled to appear at the Maroochydore Magistrates Court today. The incident is under investigation by the Ethical Standards Command, with oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
