NASA astronaut Chris Williams is set to embark on his inaugural journey to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard the Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft, scheduled for launch on November 27 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Williams will be joined by Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergey Mikaev for an eight-month mission as part of Expeditions 73/74. A press conference will be held at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston on October 1 at 2 p.m. EDT to discuss the details of this upcoming mission. The event will be streamed live on NASA’s website and YouTube channel, providing insights into the objectives and preparations for the mission. Media representatives interested in participating must reach out to NASA’s Johnson newsroom by September 29 for accreditation. Chris Williams, a native of New York City and resident of Potomac, Maryland, was selected as a NASA astronaut candidate in 2021. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from Stanford University and a doctorate from MIT, with a focus on astrophysics. Prior to joining NASA, Williams completed his medical physics residency at Harvard Medical School and worked at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. The ISS, a testament to international collaboration, has been a hub for scientific research and innovation for nearly 25 years, facilitating experiments that are impossible on Earth. This mission represents a crucial step in advancing human exploration, preparing for future endeavors under NASA’s Artemis program aimed at the Moon and Mars.
