In a diplomatic stride, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has formally received the letters of credence from the newly appointed ambassadors of Cyprus, Latvia, and Pakistan. The ceremony, held on September 16, marks the beginning of their diplomatic missions in Ukraine, as the President engaged in discussions with each envoy to strengthen bilateral relations.

During the meeting with Michalis Firillas, the Ambassador of Cyprus, President Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for Cyprus’s support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The discussions focused on enhancing sanctions against Russia, regional security, and Ukraine’s path to EU membership, with particular emphasis on Cyprus’s upcoming presidency of the EU Council.

The conversation with Andrejs Pildegovičs, the Ambassador of Latvia, centered on defense cooperation and the PURL initiative, which facilitates Ukraine’s arms procurement from the United States. As Latvia prepares to join the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member, the ambassador reassured Ukraine of his country’s commitment to advancing its interests at the United Nations.

In a gesture of solidarity, President Zelenskyy offered support to Pakistan following devastating floods during his meeting with Ambassador Kanwar Adnan Ahmed Khan. Discussions also explored avenues for collaboration in defense, military technology, and trade between Ukraine and Pakistan, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties.

This welcoming of new ambassadors underscores Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to bolster international alliances amidst regional challenges.
