Queensland police have charged a 20-year-old Tiaro man following an alleged dangerous driving incident across the South Burnett region on October 20. A 16-year-old passenger was taken to hospital with minor injuries after a subsequent crash, while another driver was not physically injured. Police said the driver of a grey Holden Commodore was reported driving dangerously on Lamb Street in Murgon and Haly Street in Wondai before travelling toward Kingaroy. The vehicle allegedly forced another car off the road, travelled the wrong way through a roundabout and evaded officers attempting to intercept it on Youngman Street. The driver allegedly struck another vehicle while moving between traffic stopped at a red light, then continued south at speed, running multiple red lights and driving on the incorrect side of the road. About 4.10pm, the Commodore was allegedly involved in a two-vehicle crash with a Toyota Hilux on the Bunya Highway at Benair. Police said the man fled into nearby bushland before being arrested near Benair Road. The man has been charged with 10 offences, including four counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle, as well as evading police, driving without a licence, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, failing to wear a seatbelt and failing to comply with duties following a crash. He was remanded in custody to appear in Maryborough Magistrates Court on November 10. Investigations are continuing, and police are appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage of the Holden Commodore, which reportedly had distinctive white stickers on its front and rear windows.
