Northrop Grumman’s Cygnus XL cargo spacecraft is scheduled to depart the International Space Station on Oct. 9 after delivering more than 11,000 pounds of supplies, scientific experiments and other cargo during the company’s Commercial Resupply Services-24 mission.

NASA will begin live coverage of the spacecraft’s undocking and departure at 12:30 p.m. EDT through NASA’s online platforms. Flight controllers will command the station’s Canadarm2 robotic arm to detach Cygnus XL from the Unity module and position it for release at approximately 12:45 p.m. NASA astronaut Luke Delaney will monitor the operation from the station.

The spacecraft is scheduled to carry disposal items and other unneeded cargo before conducting a destructive re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere on Oct. 11. NASA said it will not provide live coverage of the deorbit.

Cygnus XL launched April 11 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
