European Parliament rapporteur René Repasi will brief journalists on Oct. 7 about negotiations on the proposed EU Inc. corporate regime, ahead of a vote in Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee. The proposed framework would create a single corporate form for companies operating across the European Union, offering an alternative to the 27 national regimes. Supporters say it could help startups and scaleups expand more quickly, increase cross-border investment and strengthen EU competitiveness. Under the draft rules, companies could be established through a fully digital process within two working days for less than €100. The proposal also includes harmonized procedures covering key stages of a company’s lifecycle. The briefing will take place online via Microsoft Teams from 10 to 11 a.m. CEST and will be conducted in English for media representatives. Journalists must register by 5 p.m. on Oct. 5. The European Commission presented its legislative proposal on March 18, following Parliament’s calls for a new legal framework to address regulatory fragmentation across the single market.
