Queensland Police have released an image of a white utility as they renew an appeal for information about a fatal traffic crash at Smithfield on August 5. Police said a Toyota LandCruiser utility collided with a Toyota RAV4 and a Subaru Impreza on the Smithfield Bypass at about 1:25 p.m. The 25-year-old Palm Cove woman driving the RAV4, its sole occupant, died at the scene. Four other people were taken to Cairns Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A 36-year-old man was arrested shortly after the crash and charged with several offences. Investigators want to speak with the driver of the pictured white utility, who may be able to assist with the investigation. Police are seeking witnesses who saw a white Toyota utility being driven in a concerning manner while travelling south on the Captain Cook Highway between Palm Cove and Trinity Park between 1:15 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Anyone with information or relevant vision is urged to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers, quoting reference QP2601515138.
