Queensland Police are appealing for information after about four suspicious bush fires were allegedly deliberately lit near Normanton overnight on August 26. No injuries or structural damage have been reported, and no roads have been closed. Investigators believe the fires were started between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. along the Burke Development Road, Gulf Development Road and Burketown-Normanton Road. Police were notified at about 8:55 p.m., and the fires continued to burn overnight, spreading across the region. Residents and visitors have been urged to monitor emergency warnings and avoid travelling through affected areas. Police are seeking witnesses, as well as anyone with relevant dashcam footage or information about suspicious activity.
