Two Men Charged After Gold Coast Pursuit

Queensland police have charged two men after an allegedly unregistered vehicle was tracked through Logan and the Gold Coast on the night of August 22.

Police allege officers saw a red Mitsubishi Mirage without registration plates being driven dangerously through traffic on Kingston Road, Logan Central, at about 8 p.m. POLAIR officers later tracked the vehicle travelling at high speed southbound along the Pacific Motorway.

Officers reportedly attempted to intercept the vehicle on the Pacific Highway at Burleigh Heads, but allege the driver failed to stop. Police used a tyre deflation device to stop the vehicle, after which two men allegedly fled on foot and entered a property on Croft Court, Tugun. Both were subsequently arrested.

A 21-year-old Russell Island man faces charges including evading police, dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving while disqualified, using an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, possessing dangerous drugs, and entering a dwelling with intent in company. He remains in custody and is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on August 24. A 20-year-old Russell Island man has been charged with entering a dwelling with intent in company and is due to appear in the same court on September 4.
