Flying Squad Charges 30 in Townsville

The Queensland Police Service’s State Flying Squad has completed its 27th deployment to the Townsville District, resulting in charges against 15 adults and 15 young people over alleged property, drug and domestic violence offences.

Police said the deployment produced 53 charges against adults and 63 charges against young people. The squad supported local officers through search warrants, victim assistance, proactive operations, intelligence work and high-visibility patrols.

During the operation, officers searched a residence in Vincent and allegedly seized methylamphetamine, prescription drugs, cannabis, drug-related equipment and cash. Two Vincent women, aged 41 and 22, were arrested and charged with multiple drug and property-related offences. They are due to appear separately in Townsville Magistrates Court later this month.

A 17-year-old male was also arrested at a Wulguru residence and charged with 18 alleged property and drug offences, including burglary, attempted burglary and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He was remanded in custody and is next due to appear in Townsville Children’s Court on September 24.

Detective Inspector Joe Nixon said the State Flying Squad would continue working with Townsville police to target repeat offenders and provide additional investigative and operational support.
