Crash Leads to Weapon Charges

Queensland police have charged an 18-year-old man after a vehicle crashed into a fence in Ferny Grove on August 16, leading to the seizure of a firearm, knife, cannabis and cash.

Police were called to Cassimaty Street at about 9.30pm following reports that a Mazda had struck a fence. Officers arrested a man from Scarborough nearby. No injuries were reported, and the vehicle had not been reported stolen.

The man has been charged with offences including unlawful possession of a category H weapon, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing property suspected of being linked to a drug offence, possessing items used in the commission of a crime and possessing a knife in a public place. Police bail was refused, and he was due to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 17.

Investigations remain ongoing. Police are seeking information or footage, including dashcam and CCTV recordings, from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
