Zelenskyy Highlights Ukraine’s Resilience

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a series of meetings and commemorative events on Aug. 13, addressing support for veterans and people with disabilities, regional development, wartime recovery and cultural initiatives.

Zelenskyy met participants in the “Will to Live” sports competition, which brings together soldiers, veterans and people with disabilities. Competitors are taking part in eight events, including table tennis, archery, darts, basketball shooting, rowing-machine exercises and strength disciplines.

In Ivano-Frankivsk, the president honored fallen Ukrainian service members at the city’s Memorial Square. He placed memorial candles at a monument and observed a minute of silence. He also met representatives of mountain communities from the Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Chernivtsi and Zakarpattia regions to discuss development challenges and urgent local needs.

The International Register of Damage Caused by Russia’s Aggression Against Ukraine opened two additional claims categories covering humanitarian public spending to support affected people and demining and unexploded-ordnance clearance. Separately, Zelenskyy said the state would hold the Tysiachovesna cultural initiative annually, with 1,227 projects advancing to the final stage from more than 3,000 applications.
