Queensland Police have arrested an 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl after a stolen vehicle was tracked through the Gold Coast district on August 14. No officers or members of the public were physically injured. Police said they began tracking a stolen grey Audi Q5 at about 6:40 p.m. as it was being driven dangerously through the Gold Coast. The vehicle had reportedly been stolen from a residence in Biggera Waters on August 12. Two police vehicles sustained minor damage when the Audi allegedly attempted to evade officers in Oxenford. Police later deployed a tyre deflation device in Nerang, after which the vehicle was abandoned near Whiting Street in Labrador. The 18-year-old man was taken into custody at a nearby residential address, while the 16-year-old girl was arrested shortly afterward at Hollywell.
