Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison and NVIDIA have launched Indonesia’s first university-based artificial intelligence technology center in Yogyakarta, aiming to strengthen local AI skills and support the country’s technology development. The UGM Indosat NVIDIA AI Technology Center was launched with support from Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs. The initiative is part of broader efforts to expand access to AI education, research and innovation within the country. The center is expected to help develop AI talent through university programs and collaboration between academia, industry and government. It will focus on building capabilities that can contribute to Indonesia’s digital economy and address local technology needs. The launch was announced by NVIDIA on Aug. 14, 2026.
