Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Serbian Prime Minister Đuro Macut discussed transport projects, energy assistance and humanitarian support during a meeting in Belgrade on Aug. 8, according to Ukraine’s presidential office. Zelenskyy briefed Macut on the effects of recent Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukraine, including an overnight strike. The two leaders also reviewed potential joint economic projects aimed at strengthening ties between the countries. Their discussions included improving transport links, expanding regional logistics, developing the Danube Corridor and deepening connections between Ukraine, the Western Balkans and the European Union. The leaders also addressed support for Ukraine’s energy sector ahead of winter. Zelenskyy thanked Serbia for allocating €2 million this year to assist the sector and discussed Serbia’s possible participation in Ukraine’s reconstruction, including the rebuilding of an affected Ukrainian city.
