Ukraine Targets Russia Defense Suppliers

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has approved sanctions against 23 companies and 20 affiliated individuals accused of supplying equipment and components to Russia’s defense industry and security agencies while circumventing international restrictions.

The sanctions, enacted through a decree implementing a decision by Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, target companies involved in producing missile components, explosives, rocket fuel, optical instruments, air defense systems, drones and electronic warfare equipment.

Among the entities listed are Kidma Tech, the Morozov Plant, Spetselektronkomplekt and Aurum. Ukraine said the Morozov Plant, part of the sanctioned Rostec corporation, produces materials for missile systems, including solid-propellant charges used in Iskander-M ballistic missile engines. Spetselektronkomplekt is involved in guided air-launched missiles, while Aurum supplies electronic warfare systems and drones to Russian forces.

Vladyslav Vlasiuk, an adviser to the Ukrainian president on sanctions policy, said the measures were part of Ukraine’s continuing effort to restrict weapons manufacturers and companies supporting Russia’s military-industrial complex. He said broader international participation in the restrictions would further limit Russia’s ability to produce and use missiles, drones and other weapons.
