Samsung marked the debut of its Galaxy Z Fold8 with an aerial performance above Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah, featuring professional skydivers forming the shape of the unfolded smartphone thousands of feet above the landmark. The event was organized by Samsung Gulf Electronics in partnership with Skydive Dubai as part of the company’s promotion of its latest foldable device. Samsung said the Galaxy Z Fold8 weighs 201 grams, making it the lightest model in its Galaxy Z Fold series. According to the company, the phone has a 10:16 cover screen and a 4:3 main display designed for viewing, reading and gaming. The participating skydivers used Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9 devices to coordinate their movements during the performance. Emirati athlete and XDubai paratrooper Ahmed Al Shehhi joined the team and documented the event, including the final jump. Samsung described the display as a demonstration of its ongoing foldable-phone development, which it said builds on seven generations of engineering.
