Samsung Electronics says comfort was the central design principle behind its latest foldable smartphones and smartwatches unveiled at Galaxy Unpacked in July. The lineup includes the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9.

In an interview published by Samsung Newsroom, Hubert Lee, executive vice president and head of the company’s Mobile eXperience design team, said the new foldables were developed with an emphasis on slimness, lightness and ease of use. Samsung described the design approach as “Emotive Geometry,” combining simplified forms with softer, more human-centered details.

The company said it expanded the Galaxy Z portfolio to address different user priorities, including productivity, multitasking and portability. Samsung described the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra as its slimmest Galaxy Z Fold model yet, while the Galaxy Z Fold8’s proportions were inspired in part by the portability and one-handed usability of a passport. The devices will be offered in colors including Violet Shadow, Lavender, Pink, Cream and Graphite.

Samsung also refined the design of its latest smartwatches rather than introducing a complete redesign. The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 features an integrated screen, bezel and cushion-style body, while the new bands use a lighter, thinner structure with air pockets for breathability. Samsung said it used more than 100 million wrist data points and 10,000 simulations to evaluate fit and comfort.
