A 27-year-old Southport man has been charged with grievous bodily harm following an alleged assault that left a 36-year-old man critically injured in Coomera.

Police said emergency services were called to a licensed venue on Dreamworld Parkway about 1 a.m. on August 2 after the Coomera man was allegedly struck in the face in the venue’s car park. He reportedly fell and sustained serious head injuries before being taken to Gold Coast University Hospital.

The alleged offender is believed to have left the scene in a rideshare vehicle. Police arrested a man at Ormeau about 1 p.m. on August 3. He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on August 4.
