Three Charged in Traffic Patrols

Queensland police have charged three people after traffic patrols in Morningside and Sunnybank Hills allegedly uncovered drugs, weapons and ammunition on July 21.

Officers from the Capalaba and Inala Tactical Crime Squads intercepted a gold Holden Commodore on Riding Road, Morningside, shortly before 2 p.m. Police said a roadside drug test allegedly returned a positive result for the 49-year-old driver from Gaythorne. A search of the vehicle allegedly located cannabis, methylamphetamine, a knife and drug paraphernalia.

The woman was charged with drug driving and is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on September 7. She was also dealt with through drug diversion over several possession-related offences.

Later that evening, police intercepted a Ford Fiesta displaying allegedly false registration plates on Ryhill Road, Sunnybank Hills. Officers allegedly found drugs, ammunition and a weapon in the vehicle. The 44-year-old driver from Anderleigh faces multiple drug and driving-related charges and is expected in Gympie Magistrates Court on August 7. A 26-year-old Bald Hills man who was a passenger was charged with possessing explosives and is due before Holland Park Magistrates Court on August 24.
