Queensland police have charged two men over an alleged illegal road race in Kingaroy on July 21, after officers observed two vehicles rapidly accelerating from traffic lights and travelling side by side. Police allege the incident occurred at about 8:10 a.m. at the intersection of Haly and Fisher streets. The vehicles, a 1996 Honda Civic and a 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer, allegedly continued east along Haly Street before officers intercepted them. Both vehicles were seized and impounded for 90 days. A 20-year-old man from Ellesmere and a 21-year-old Kingaroy man were each issued a notice to appear in the Kingaroy Magistrates Court on September 2, charged with one count of racing between vehicles on a road.
