Queensland Police Service officers joined athletes and community supporters in an icy fundraiser at Chermside on July 12, raising money for Special Olympics athletes and marking 100 days until the Special Olympics Australia National Games in Melbourne. The annual Polar Plunge is part of the global Law Enforcement Torch Run, which raises funds and awareness for people with intellectual disabilities. Sergeant Brett Price, founder and president of Law Enforcement Torch Run Queensland, said the event strengthened connections between police and the community. Sergeant Courtney Russell took part alongside her son, Slade, a Special Olympics athlete and basketball player. Australian Federal Police officers also participated, with some wearing uniforms and others dressed in costumes inspired by a television detective. Members of the Pacific Police Support Group joined officers from across the Pacific at the event, which was held for the fourth year. Funds raised will support training and competition opportunities for Special Olympics athletes. Post navigation Foster Family Receives New Ukrainian Home Health Festival Promotes Ukraine School Reform
