Healthy Eating Festival Comes to Kyiv Region

Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska visited the second Healthy Eating Festival of the year in the Kyiv region, an event organized as part of the country’s School Nutrition Reform. The festival promoted healthier food choices at schools and in families through educational, culinary and community activities.

Zelenska, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Culture Minister Tetiana Berezhna, Health Minister Viktor Liashko, EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarína Mathernová and EU Anti-Corruption Initiative head Allan Pagh Kristensen, visited four event locations. At Revne Lyceum, participants reviewed a modernized school kitchen and joined workshops on preparing healthy meals, while students developed sample school menus.

At Boryspil Lyceum “Leader,” children and parents took part in activities focused on healthy eating and the role of families in establishing good habits. At Boryspil Vocational College, attendees learned about the culinary hub established in 2023, including training programs for specialists in school meals, career guidance and vocational retraining opportunities.

The festival concluded at Shchaslyve Academic Lyceum with cooking workshops, quizzes, sports activities, discussions with parents and nutritionists, and presentations on vocational education and school kitchen facilities. Zelenska said she hoped similar festivals would be held in other regions to support healthier lifestyles for children and families.
