A 26-year-old woman from Cairns has been charged with multiple offenses following her alleged assault on two children she was babysitting. The incident, which took place on June 20 in Edmonton, has prompted a broader investigation by local authorities.

According to the Queensland Police Service, the woman was apprehended after a search warrant was executed at a Manunda property on June 24. She faces two counts of common assault and one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm and indecent treatment of a child under 12. The alleged assaults occurred while she was employed as a babysitter at a residence in Edmonton.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on July 10. In the meantime, the Cairns Child Investigation and Protection Unit is conducting an ongoing investigation and has appealed to the public for additional information. They are particularly interested in hearing from parents who believe their children may have had contact with the accused in recent years.
