A 19-year-old male has been charged after allegedly ramming a police vehicle in Gladstone Central, Queensland, on the evening of July 3, 2026. The Queensland Police Service corrected earlier reports that incorrectly identified the vehicle involved.

The incident occurred around 7:20 PM when police attempted to intercept what is now confirmed to be a Ford sedan on Fowler Lane. The driver did not comply, collided with the police car, and escaped the scene. Fortunately, the officers involved were unharmed.

Later that night, authorities located and arrested the suspect at a residence in Clinton. Further investigations led to the discovery of a Holden Commodore, which the accused had reportedly driven unlicensed earlier in May in Calliope.

The young man faces six charges, including two counts of unlicensed driving and one count each of damaging an emergency vehicle and evasion. He is currently held in custody and is scheduled to appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court on July 13.

Police are still searching for the Ford sedan and urge anyone with information to contact them. Tips can be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers or directly to Policelink.
