Detectives from the Logan Child Protection and Investigation Unit (CPIU) have arrested a 31-year-old woman following a series of thefts at construction sites in Logan Reserve, Queensland Police reported. The incidents, which involved the theft of copper piping and wiring, occurred between 2am and 4am on June 5. According to police reports, the suspects, a man and the arrested woman, were seen entering multiple homes under construction. A blue Hyundai sedan, associated with the suspects, was spotted by a security officer near the theft locations. Shortly after, the vehicle was identified by detectives travelling along Kingston Road at Waterford West, leading to a police intervention. While the male suspect fled the scene on foot, the woman was detained. Upon her arrest, authorities discovered not only the stolen construction materials but also additional building equipment, a stolen registration plate, dangerous drugs, and a knife in the vehicle. The woman, hailing from Regents Park, faces multiple charges, including three counts of receiving tainted property and various other offenses related to burglary, drug possession, and carrying a weapon. She was remanded in custody and is scheduled to reappear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on June 12. Meanwhile, the search continues for the male suspect, and police urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, especially those related to metal theft. Enhanced security measures, such as better lighting, fencing, and surveillance, are recommended for property owners and construction sites. The Queensland Police Service emphasizes the ongoing commitment to thwarting metal thefts and encourages the community to contribute by reporting suspicious behavior or information related to such crimes.
