President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine and Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo recently held discussions focusing on enhancing European anti-ballistic capabilities and finalizing a drone agreement. The meeting took place ahead of the Ukraine – Nordic-Baltic Summit scheduled in Tallinn.

During their discussions, both leaders emphasized the ongoing work in Europe to bolster anti-ballistic defenses, a critical component of the region’s security strategy against rising threats. President Zelenskyy highlighted the progress made with European partners and expressed gratitude towards Finland for its military support and contributions towards the PURL initiative aimed at strengthening air defense systems.

The talks also covered broader security challenges in Europe, particularly the threats posed by Russia. Special attention was given to diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a dignified peace in the region. Prime Minister Orpo reaffirmed Finland’s support for Ukraine, including the country’s ambitions to join the European Union. He noted Finland’s readiness to facilitate the opening of all six negotiating clusters essential for EU membership.

This bilateral meeting underscores the deepening cooperation between Ukraine and Finland and their commitment to a secure and stable European continent.
