Queensland Police have charged a 50-year-old Raceview man with attempted murder and arson after a stabbing and house fire at a residence on Cascade Street on May 24. A 40-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy were injured in the incident.

Police allege the man stabbed both victims during an altercation at about 4:30 p.m. before starting a fire at the property. The three people involved are believed to have known each other.

The teenager was taken to Queensland Children’s Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. The woman was transported to Mater Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was reported to be stable.

The accused was arrested shortly after officers arrived and has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, listed as domestic violence offences, and one count of arson. He is due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court at 9 a.m. on Monday.
