A 50-year-old Raceview man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of arson following an alleged stabbing and house fire in the Queensland suburb on Saturday, May 24.

Queensland Police allege an altercation occurred at a residence on Cascade Street at about 4:30 p.m., during which a 40-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy were stabbed. Police further allege the man started a fire at the property. The three people were known to each other.

The boy was taken to Queensland Children’s Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. The woman was transported to Mater Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was reported to be stable.

The accused was arrested shortly after police arrived and is due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court. Police are seeking information through Policelink on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers Queensland on 1800 333 000.
